JACOB GASKINS CHAPTER, NSDAR, HOSTS WREATH LAYING CEREMONY

North Canton Cemetery Site of Wreaths Across America Effort

Members of the Jacob Gaskins Chapter, NSDAR, and guests had the opportunity to lay wreaths on the gravesites of veterans during a Wreaths Across America ceremony at North Canton Cemetery.

North Canton, OH — The Jacob Gaskins Chapter, NSDAR, hosted a wreath-laying ceremony in December at North Canton Cemetery as part of its participation in the national Wreaths Across America program. The solemn event honored the service and sacrifice of America’s veterans and provided the community with an opportunity to remember those who defended the nation’s freedom.

The ceremony included tributes recognizing all branches of the United States armed forces as well as service members who are missing in action or prisoners of war (MIA/POW). Following additional reflections and recognitions of those sponsors who made the effort possible, the ceremony concluded with the playing of Union General Daniel Butterfield’sTaps.”

Following the ceremony, chapter members, along with guests and community supporters, placed 252 wreaths on veterans’ graves throughout North Canton Cemetery. Each wreath served as a visible symbol of gratitude and remembrance during the holiday season.

The Jacob Gaskins Chapter, NSDAR, is proud to have received approval from the North Canton Cemetery Board to host Wreaths Across America at the site, which is the final resting place for more than 300 veterans.

Individuals interested in learning more about their genealogy or membership in the NSDAR should contact the chapter.
