The Jacob Gaskins Chapter, NSDAR, held its inaugural meeting in September at Arrowhead Golf and Event Center — which is located on land once owned by the chapter’s namesake and local notable figure, Jacob Gaskins, a freed slave and Underground Railroad conductor.

The Jacob Gaskins Chapter, NSDAR, was officially organized in May, welcoming 30 founding members. Named for Jacob Gaskins, who was born into slavery in 1792, the chapter aims to honor his legacy while supporting patriotic and genealogical initiatives in Stark County.
