North Canton’s new Liberty Tree stands as a living symbol of freedom, honoring Revolutionary War Patriots while connecting the community to the remarkable legacy of Jacob Gaskins and his enduring contributions to the pursuit of liberty.

The Jacob Gaskins Chapter, NSDAR, held its inaugural meeting in September at Arrowhead Golf and Event Center — which is located on land once owned by the chapter’s namesake and local notable figure, Jacob Gaskins, a freed slave and Underground Railroad conductor.
